Ransomware is a type of malware that threatens to publish the victim's data or perpetually block access to it unless a ransom is paid.
For businesses, this must be one of the more terrifying risks to deal with as it may lead to a significant loss in productivity, income, and a possible compliance nightmare.  The reason these hackers can do so much damage is because they secretly break into your system a long time before the attack is launched. The one upside of this is you can keep an eye out for symptoms that your infrastructure has been breached.  The POPIA compliance grace period ends on the 1st of July 2021 and this is a really good time to review 3 ways to see if hackers may already be in the system.
